Profile Q&A

Interviewer:

What advice would you give to young women who want to succeed as an entrepreneur?:

Tayo:

Do it for you, don't do it for the applause.

Interviewer:

What/Who inspires you?:

Tayo:

My biggest inspiration is God, I am in awe of the precision and purposeful artistry He applies to every principle and law we experience within the Universe, I seek always to create with that kind of precision and purposeful intention.

Interviewer:

Tell us about you.:

Tayo:

I like to call myself a Fashion / Social Entrepreneur as I spread my wings across multiple spheres. I have dedicated my life to an unending process of self-discovery, growth and enlightenment, and most importantly the zeal to help others breakthrough limitations, and I like to do this using my gifts.

I got introduced to the fashion industry through pageantry and was scouted by a modeling agency based in South Africa. I later relocated to South Africa where I began a career in fashion modeling full time. During my time in South Africa, I became the anchor on a fashion and entertainment TV show named Cut-In which aired on M-net Africa. As a model Tayo has graced the runways at New York Fashion Week, DC Fashion Week, Mercedes Benz Swim Week Miami, walking runways for brands like Cia Maritima, Rosapois.

Fashion was an open door to encounters that birthed a renewed sense of purpose within me and this aided me to grow further with an intense passion for all things creative and a heart that seeks to marry creative expression with good causes and raise awareness. I developed a deep interest for the swimwear industry when I moved to Miami in 2010 and I have since used the industry as a mission field.

Five years ago, U founded the Swimwear Brand Eido Swimwear. 'Eido' is an ancient Greek word that means to be aware, discerning or gain insight to something. Eido swimwear is constructed for the woman who is intrinsically aware of who she is. In 2018, the brand birthed the Wonder Woman Initiative; A series of ongoing projects and live events curated to uplift women within the communities around us, and in the world at large. Through this initiative, the brand spotlights female survivors, women in business breaking new grounds, and women who are less privileged and need help becoming self-sufficient providers for themselves and their families.

I am also the co-founder and managing partner at The Gem Talent Agency, a model and talent agency, licensed and bonded in the state of Florida.

Interviewer:

What are your weaknesses?:

Tayo:

Ramen noodles, and multitasking.

Interviewer:

What are your strengths?:

Tayo:

Multi-functioning, and the ability to be great at many things. It allows me to channel my gifts across many spheres and feeling constrained is almost alien to me.

Interviewer:

What's your favorite part of being a designer?:

Tayo:

The ability to conceive an idea and get to control the manifestation process. Creating allows me brood over the idea until it becomes a finished piece, and this strengthens my ability to follow through until completion in many other areas of my life.

Interviewer:

Who is one of your Style Iocns?:

Tayo:

Diane Von Furstenberg, love her for the elegance and subtlety.

Interviewer:

How is it trying to achieve balance between work and home?:

Tayo:

Keeping a strong prayer, workout, meditation, and study routine helps me strengthen my core. When I'm good at the center, I'm good everywhere else, and balance naturally comes, even in the midst of chaos.

Interviewer:

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?:

Tayo:

Still creating, entrenched in philanthropy and mentoring generation next in places where resources are limited or seem to be completely unavailable. I also envision myself as a force behind brands that have extended their reach from fairly local to very global.
